Viola Ruth Noetzelman was born on April 28, 1919, in Leaf Valley Township the daughter of Edward and Clara (Pfalsgraff) Gehrke. She was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley and attended country grade school in Leaf Valley Township through the 8th grade. Viola was united in marriage to Gerhart Noetzelman on September 27, 1939, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. To this union five children were born. The Noetzelman family farmed in South Effington all of their married life. Viola and Gerhart enjoyed dancing and visiting friends. She also loved spending time in her garden, baking canning and selling raspberries and strawberries. Viola was an original member of the Leaf Valley Firemans Auxiliary and St. James Church Ladies Aide. She is survived by her husband of seventy two years, Gerhart; four children: Myron of South Effington, GeorgieAnn Bright of Champlin, MN, Bryan of Maple Grove, MN, Bruce of Alexandria; daughter-in-law, Gloria Noetzelman of Spring Lake Park, MN; five grandchildren: Dawn (Chad) Orgon, Ryan (Lara) Noetzelman, Aaron Noetzelman, Christopher Noetzelman, Brent Noetzelman; three great grandchildren: Cole Orgon, Jack Noetzelman, Millie Noetzelman. She was preceded in death by her son Nylin; one brother, and two sisters. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 16, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at St. James Church in South Effington. Pallbearers were: Ryan, Aaron, Brent, and Chris Noetzelman, Chad Orgon and Leon Schultz. Burial was at the church cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
