Violet Dilly

Violet Elaine (Koosmann) Dilly was born on March 17, 1930, in Appleton, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairfield, MN.  Violet graduated from West Central School of Morris.  She worked at Otter Trail Power Company in Morris.  On June 24, 1950, Violet married Robert Dilly Sr.  Bob and Vi moved to Norcross, MN and raised a family. She worked as a postal clerk, and in 1976, she was promoted to postmaster.  Later, she became postmaster of Perham, MN then Rockford, MN. Violet retired from Rockford in 1989, then moved to Alexandria, MN. Her hobbies were traveling, golfing, knitting, and volunteering at the Douglas County Hospital.

Violet passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Windmill Ponds in Alexandria at the age of 90.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dilly Sr.; daughter, Patrice Cooper; and parents, Lydia and Martin Koosmann.  Survived by son, Robert Dilly Jr.; daughter, Peggy Kappes; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 brothers, Orville (Darlene) Koosmann, Jerry Koosman, and Elton (Clarice) Koosmann.

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria.  Visitation will be held from 10-10:45AM at the Anderson Funeral Home, prior to the service.  The service will be live-streamed and recorded on the funeral home website.  To protect the safety of all, masks, social distancing and building occupancy will be observed.  Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Herman, MN at a later date.
