Virgil “Virg” Hinnenkamp was born on May 15, 1944, in Melrose, Minnesota, to Boniface & Agnes (Mueller) Hinnenkamp. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1962. After graduation he joined the United States Army and served in Germany. After being Honorably Discharged he returned to Minnesota.
He met and married Andrea Nicholas on September 27, 1969 at her family farm in Lake Mary Township. After their marriage the couple lived in Alexandria for 3 ½ years before moving to Alaska, where Virg worked for the Alaska Pipeline, and later Western Airlines which later was bought by Delta. The Hinnenkamp’s also lived in Oklahoma, and Kentucky before retiring to Alexandria three years ago.
Virg enjoyed fishing, working in his vegetable garden or just feeding and watching birds. His favorite time was Sunday morning breakfast with Andrea after church.
Virg went to join his beloved Savior on Sunday, April 1, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Andrea; children: Lori, Travis (Jenn), Tamara (Darren); siblings: Donna Jennison, Kat, Larry (Carol), Ron (Connie), Dennis (Luann), Arlene (Randy) Piper, Marjorie (Paul) Roering; grandchildren: Quinton (Nicole), Roshonna (Tanner), Haley, Aaron (Tracie), Kim, Justin, Brendan, Sariah “little red”; great grandchildren: Dom & Addi and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kevin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Christian Union Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home
