Virginia Ann Rosalie (Wussow) Hausmann was born February 20, 1927, to Alfred and Laura (Fritz) Wussow in Ida Township, Douglas County, Minnesota. She was baptized March 27, 1927, and confirmed June 29, 1941, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley, MN. She attended school and graduated from District 23. Virginia worked at Leifold Hospital in Parkers Prairie and St. Luke?s Hospital in Alexandria, and later worked at the Coast-To-Coast store and Jim?s Taxi Inn as a waitress. On June 6, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to Werner Hausmann, who was employed at Noonan Motor Company. In 1950, they moved to her parents? family farm. The couple was blessed with two boys, Kevin and Jan. They farmed for 36 years where Virginia was a devoted housewife and also helped with the farm work. In April 1986, they moved to Alexandria. Virginia enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. She loved working with landscaping and did a great job with inside and outside plants. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. The most important part of her life was her faith. Virginia died on October 30, 2008, at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Werner, of 60 years, 4 months and 24 days; sons, Kevin (Linda) Hausmann of New Brighton and Jan (Joyce) Hausmann of Alexandria; grandchildren, Karl, Elizabeth and Benjamin; and brother, Wallace Gerald (Jerry) Wussow. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Laura, and one grandson, John Hausmann. The funeral service was held on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Terry Finnern and Reverend William Moeller officiating. Music was provided by organist, Mertice Brueske. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Leaf Valley. Casket bearers will be Delmar Jantzen, Duane Hausmann, Gerald Hausmann, David Hausmann, Dale Hausmann, Leroy Hausmann, Roger Jantzen, Wally Walz, and Doug Wussow. Honorary casket bearers will be Virginia?s grandchildren, Karl Hausmann, Elizabeth Hausmann and Benjamin Hausmann.
