Virginia Rose Morse was born July 27, 1940 in Glenwood, MN, the daughter of Jacob and Maude (White) Morse. She was raised in Glenwood where she attended school.
Virginia was married to Carl Olson in 1955 and was blessed with her son, Dale, and later, a daughter, Monica. They made their home on a farm near Osakis, MN.
Virginia was married in 1959 to Henry Foss. They made their home in Glenwood and Virginia was blessed with four more children, Steve, Dan, Sue and Kathy. Virginia worked as a waitress and bartender in Glenwood and Alexandria. She also provided daycare for families in Alexandria. In 1971 Henry died.
In 1975 Virginia met and married Leonard Lannes. They made their home in Alexandria where Virginia has remained as a resident.
Virginia loved going to garage sales. Spending time outdoors was a favorite pastime. She enjoyed camping and having her coffee outdoors. Virginia was a visitor; visiting with friends at the Downtown Diner was great fun. She visited with friends and family wherever she was. Most important to Virginia was here family; she was proud of her children and loved being with her grandchildren.
On Sunday, August 10, 2014 Virginia died at the age of seventy-four years. Her parents; five brothers, Lloyd, Lincoln, Harold, Harry and Raymond Morse; and five sisters, Sylvia Morse, Bonnie Keller, June Paulson, Evelyn Urness and Dorothy Simonson preceded her in death. Virginia is survived her sons, Dale Olson of Alexandria, Steve Foss of Minneapolis, MN and Dan Foss of Osakis, MN; daughters, Sue Carlson of Elbow Lake, MN, Kathy Foss of Alexandria and Monica Bogucki and husband, John, of Rochester, MN; step-daughter, Karen Lannes; step-sons, Ron Lannes of Deer Creek, MN and Don Lannes of Deer Creek; grandchildren, Lisa Bullick, Ricky Bullick, Lacey Carlson, Callie Anderson, Nicholas Foss, Megan Clauden, Carrie Foss, John Burczek, Bill Burczek and several Lannes grandchildren; one sister, Betty Peterson of Alexandria; and one brother, Norman Morse of Cambridge, MN.
On Thursday, August 14, 2014 a funeral service was held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend Kari van Wakeren was the officiant. Interment will be in the Christian Union Cemetery near Holmes City.
