OBITUARY Virginia Mildred Schnell was born on February 2, 1937 in Lee Center, IL the daughter of Leroy and Catherine (Bulfer) Hahn. Ginny grew up and graduated in 1955, from Lee Center High School in IL. She married the love of her life, Donald Schnell on April 16, 1955 in Clinton, IA. Together they began their family having four children David, Dennis, Douglas, and Amy. In 1972, Ginny and her family moved to the Alexandria area where they farmed near Osakis, MN. They later moved to Fergus Falls, MN when Don started working for Metz Bakery. Ginny worked as the Banquet Manager for the Holiday Inn in Fergus Falls, MN. After 10 years with Holiday Inn she retired and moved to Sisseton, SD with Don to be close to her son. Ginny was a kind, thoughtful, and caring woman who was liked by many people. She liked to stay busy cleaning around the house and keeping her flower gardens nice. Ginny was a great cook and outstanding baker. Some of her favorite goodies to bake were banana bread, brownies, and pumpkin pie. Ginny also enjoyed traveling with Don. Together they enjoyed taking casino trips and driving around the country. During their travels they visited every continental state besides Florida. She was a supportive wife and loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Virginia M. Schnell died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, South Dakota at the age of 76 years old. She is survived by her sons David (Gayle) Schnell of Sisseton, SD; Dennis (Pat) Schnell of Alexandria; Douglas (Val) Schnell of Fond du Lac, WI; daughter Amy (Mark) Steele of Osakis, MN; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Joann (Bill) Brady, Marion Boland, Roberta (Roland) Faber, Carolee (Wylie) Robinson and Bonnie (Jeff) Sornberger; brother Francis (Deloris) Hahn; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Schnell. A Memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.
