Vivian Victoria Anderson was born on March 20, 1921, to Abel and Amanda (Jernell) Anderson. She was raised on the family farm along the banks of Plumb Creek near Walnut Grove with nine brothers and sisters, attended the ?little white school house? near the 80 acre homestead, and later attended Walnut Grove public school. Vivian loved to tell the colorful stories about her early years on the farm to her family and friends. Vivian?s life as a young woman was spent partially on the farm, and partially in Walnut Grove where her family operated a restaurant. It was there that she met Albert (Abe) Gertjejansen to whom she became a loving wife for the next forty-eight years. Abe?s career with Interstate Power Company led them to Fulda, Minnesota, where they treasured the years with friends until their retirement. For most of her life Vivian maintained two homes for her family, one in Fulda and the other in the setting she dearly loved on Pelican Lake near Ashby. When Abe passed away, she moved to Alexandria and later shared a brief and loving marriage with Winston Moline. She spent her final years in Alexandria surrounded by her children, grand children, great grand children, and dear friends. Vivian dedicated her life to being an exceptional homemaker, mother, and a loving friend to everyone she met. She loved traveling and entertaining, and liked to golf, play cards, and fish with Abe. But mostly she loved the fun times, laughing and talking, with her family on the screened porch at the ?cabin? on Pelican Lake. A very spirited lady passed away, surrounded by her family, on Friday, February 29th at the age of 86. Vivian was preceded in death by her husbands Abe and Win, and 9 brothers and sisters. Vivian is survived by one daughter, Marge (husband Wally) Miller of Bloomington, MN; and her three sons, Roland of St. Paul, MN; Lee (wife Gwen) of Chico, CA; and Doyle of New Orleans, LA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Pastor Carl Ulrich officiated. There will be a private interment at a later date. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
