Vivian Amelia Oothoudt was born on January 24, 1936 to Carl and Mildred (Larsen) Nelson in Little Falls, Minnesota. She attended school there and graduated Little Falls High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Robert Oothoudt on December 15, 1957. They lived in Little Falls, Jackson, Michigan, Bloomington, and in 1969 moved to Alexandria where she has resided ever since. She was employed at the Morrison County Welfare Dept. and the Hennepin Paper Co., both in Little Falls. She started working at the Echo Press newspaper in 1972 and retired in 2004. On Friday, June 17, 2011 Vivian died at the age of 75 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. She is survived by three daughters: Jodi (Nick) Hodek of Alexandria; Julie (Corey) Olson of Lakeville; Kimberly (Brad) Arneson of Corcoran; seven grandchildren: Eric (Rebecca) Guck, Adam Guck and Whitney (Jay) Taylor; Hayley (Brian) Hodek; Jayde (Silas) Hodek; Abby and Colton Arneson; four great grandchildren: Skylar, Austin, Scout and Holden; three sisters: Carol Stromquist of Silverbay; Joyce (Herb) Beckman of Willmar; Alyce (Keeven) Kalahar of Little Falls and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Laurence Stromquist. A service will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00AM at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend John Peshek officiating.
