Wallace Hoefer

Wallace Leon Hoefer was born on November 29, 1926 on the family farm in Todd County, MN, the son of Frank and Maude (Van Eaton) Hoefer. He graduated from Morris Ag School and then worked on the family farm with his father. He married Audrey Feda on June 17, 1951 in Alexandria. Together they moved to Billings, Montana, where Wally began working for Firestone and then Goodyear Companies as an office manager. He was transferred to Bakers, OR, in 1958, and then moved back to Billings, MT, where he began working for the Texaco Company. Wally was transferred to Los Angeles, CA and then to Houston, TX where he retired in 1992. After retirement Wally and Audrey moved to St. Louis, Missouri and worked for United Industries for 8 years before moving back to Alexandria in 2000. While living in Alexandria he worked at Casey?s Gas Station for about 4 years. Wally collected duck stamps, postage stamps, carved loons, and coins. He liked watching baseball and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees. Wally also enjoyed crossword puzzles. Wally was kind and loving husband, father, and friend. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Wallace L. Hoefer died on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Audrey Hoefer of Alexandria; brother-in-law Kenneth (Linda) Feda of Benson, MN; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son David Hoefer; one sister; and one brother. A funeral service was held on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria with Gary Lund officiating. Music was provided by Paige Gabrielson, Annetta Knowles, and Randy Morken. Interment was in the Kinkead Cemetery. Casket Bearers were James C. Feeks, James R. Feeks, Randy Feeks, Bill Haines, Daniel Haines, Justin Haines, Gary Lund, and Albert Samons. Honorary Casket Bearers were Jean Weiss, Geraldine Irwin, Mark Gustafson, Vicki Hogrefe, Brandon Hogrefe, the Westbrook Estates Neighborhood, Delmore and Audrey Gustafson, and Tom and Cheryl Warren. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
