Warren was born January 16, 1921, the third of seven children to Edward and Bertha (Highum) Dahl, in Glenwood, MN. After graduating from Glenwood High School he went to Fort Snelling to enlist in the Air Corps. He married June B. Zahl January 16, 1943 in Bradenton, FL. He and June then spent the next 28 years traveling the world, three kids in tow, courtesy of the U.S. Air Force. They retired to Minnesota and settled into an idyllic home on East Lake Carlos in 1977 where they spent many years gardening, fishing and playing with grandchildren. Warren had a second career with the Sheriff?s Department in Alexandria. After retiring (for good this time) he and June moved to the Senator in 2004. Warren spent his time on various committees at the Senator, visiting with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Warren is survived by son Douglas (Pam) of Richmond, TX and daughter Diane (Stewart) of Glenview, IL; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, June; son, Warren Jr.; his parents, and six siblings. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Reisig officiating. Military Honors were by American Legion Post #87, VFW Post # 936 and the Minnesota National Guard Honors. Burial was at the Carlos Prairie Cemetery in Carlos, Minnesota.
