Wendy Jo (Muzik) Kuhnau was born on February 20, 1968 and welcomed home by her parents Genevieve (Jenny) and Larry Muzik of Alexandria. Wendy graduated from Jefferson High School in 1986 and then attended St. Cloud Technical College for finance. She worked for a credit collection agency in St. Cloud for a while and then moved back to the Alexandria area to be closer to home. Wendy worked for Bremer Bank for thirteen years until 2002 when she started working for the Douglas County Jail as a correctional officer. It was while working at the jail that Wendy met a coworker, who became a friend and turned out to be her soul mate, Brad Kuhnau. Wendy and Brad were united in marriage on September 10, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. This union joined a family, Wendy, Brad and her three sons, Jake, Joey and Michael. Wendy and Brad were the couple who did everything together, work, home and play. They were a team.
Wendy was the mom who kept her kids on their toes with her constant pranks. She was a country girl at heart and loved to be outside working in her Hosta gardens, fishing and hunting. She spent countless hours with her boys and Brad on the lake fishing, competing for the biggest catch and usually winning! Wendy volunteered as a First Responder for Holmes City and was an artist, who was always willing to try the newest trend that she found. She was the mom who took her boys on camping trips, traveling to state parks and different states, including Florida and Hawaii.
Wendy's storytelling, pranks, the hours on the lake fishing with her boys and her smile will be dearly missed by Brad and all who knew her.
Wendy passed away after fighting for a year with brain cancer at the age of forty-eight on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Bethany home. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Brad Kuhnau; sons, Jake Didier, Joey (Amy Bartolomeo) Didier, and son, Michael Dickey; mom, Genevieve (Jenny) Muzik; dad, Larry Muzik; siblings, Michelle (Jason Norman) Magnuson, Trevor Muzik, LaTonya (Aaron) Bitzan; granddaughter, Aubree Didier; Nieces, Mercedes (Darin) Walters, Elizabeth Karg, Eliana Bitzan; nephew, Ashher Norman; great-nephew, Zeke Smith; and Brad's parents, Douglas and Birdie Kuhnau.
