Wilbur "Buzz" Glaesemann, father of Richard Glaesemann died on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Galeon in Osakis, MN at the age of 88 years old. A private graveside service will be held on Enderlin, ND at a later date.
Buzz, born to Otto F. and Daisy (Bartels) Glaesemann in Enderlin, ND, died peacefully at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN, at the age of 88. He was raised on the family farm outside of Enderlin which was farmed by his father and grandfather, Frederick J. Glaesemann, a German immigrant and homesteader. He attended Pontiac Township country school and Enderlin Public School. He was a confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Leaving home at an early age, he became employed by the Soo Line Railroad as a telegraph operator and later as a train dispatcher.
He married Betty Lou Schmidtgal of Drake, ND, in June, 1948, and for the majority of their marriage resided in Enderlin.
Regretting not graduating from high school, he obtained his GED in 1956 at age 28. He furthered his education earning a Bachelor of University Studies degree from NDSU in 1978, after 10 years of part time enrollment while working full time for the Soo Line. In addition, he completed many courses from various universities including the University of Utah, The University of San Francisco and Rutgers University.
Buzz retired at age 62 after 43 years with the Soo Line. His hobbies included hunting and motorcycling. He was a member of the Red River BMW Motorcycle Owners Association. In his early years he enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was one of the original members of the Enderlin Public Golf Course. Other activities included Toastmasters and serving as a municipal judge and Enderlin First Responder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gilf, and sisters, June, Fran and Joyce.
Buzz is survived by his wife, son, Richard (Dick) and wife, Margie, Glaesemann of Alexandria, MN, grandson, Michael, of New Hope PA, granddaughter, Tracy, and husband, Terry Falcomata, and great grandsons, Jack and Wyatt, of Round Rock, TX.
Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
