William Lloyd Brewer

 

William (Bill) Lloyd Brewer passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, while in Hospice Care at Knute Nelson, Alexandria, Minnesota.

Bill was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota, on June 8, 1949, to Louis and Ida (Peterson) Brewer. Bill graduated from Wahpeton (ND) High School and the North Dakota State School of Science. He continued his education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in social work.

He married Anne Hermes on August 19, 1972, and they embarked on their careers at several locations in North Dakota. Bill was a social worker and assistant administrator at several Good Samaritan locations in North Dakota before moving to the Alexandria, Minnesota area, where he was the administrator of two facilities for several years before retiring.

Bill loved music and sang in the Men’s Chorus (Crosby, ND) and his church choirs. He and Anne were active in the local community theater and their churches. He loved cars and dogs.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Anne; sisters, Karen Brewer (Alexandria, MN) and Beverly (Mike) Gebhart (Houston, TX); sister-in-law, Patricia Smith, (Alexandria, MN), brothers-in-law, Peter Hermes (Ashby MN) and Arthur Hermes (Alexandria MN). He has 12 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews and 16 great-great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and many cousins.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, 2:00 PM at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
