William ?Bill? Harold Frost was born on January 20, 1936 in Arthur Township, Cass County, North Dakota to Bernard Lee and Elizabeth Ann (Bahl) Frost. He graduated from Hunter, ND High School and earned a business degree at Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. Bill enlisted into the U.S. Army, which he served from 1957-1959. On June 9, 1962, Bill was united in marriage to Dorothy ?Dolly? Richardson at St. Aloysius Church in Lisbon, ND. To this union the couple was blessed with two children, Jay and Linda. The couple made their home in Lisbon, ND where he started his banking career with First National Bank. His career took him and his family to many different communities including: Fargo, Little Falls, East Grand Forks, and St. Louis Park before settling in Alexandria in 1976. In Alexandria, Bill served as the Vice President of First National Bank until his early retirement in 1986. After retirement, Bill continued to be active in the Lions Club. He also was involved with umpiring baseball, refereeing basketball, and serving as the sports host for the Alexandria High School Cardinal football and basketball teams. Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, Twins baseball, Vikings football, Gopher basketball and pretty much every sport. Most importantly Bill enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Bill died on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, MN at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dolly; son, Jay (Mindy) of Brooklyn Park; daughter, Linda (Mike) Herzog of Alexandria; grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren, Amanda, and Mikaela; brothers, Ray (Lois) Frost of Arthur, ND, Leroy (Tiny) Frost of Fargo, Donald (Joanne) Frost of Addison, IL, and Robert (Esther) Frost of Mesa, AZ; sister, Jackie Punton of Fargo; and many nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Elizabeth; and brothers, Laverne, Ken, Mick and Marvin. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria with Father Steve Binsfeld and Reverend Greg Billberg officiating. Inurnment was in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Honorary urn bearers were Bill?s grandchildren, Nathan Frost, Amanda Herzog, Lauren Frost, and Mikaela Herzog. Military Honors were provided by the Alexandria American Legion Post 87 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 936, and the American National Guard Honors. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
