William ?Bill? George Sharp Sr. was born on May 12, 1915 in Mankato, Minnesota to Arthur and Illene (Brown) Sharp. Bill attended school through the eighth grade. He helped his father farm and enlisted into the U.S. Army where he was stationed in California and served in Europe during WWII. On August 25, 1942 Bill was united in marriage to Grace Gadow in Glendale, California. William and Grace returned to Minnesota and began farming the Sharp family farm in Carlos, MN. They were blessed with five children. Bill drove school bus and also helped at the sawmill that his brother, Robert owned in Carlos. In 1997, Bill and Grace moved to Alexandria, and his last year lived at Clearwater Suites. Bill was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Alexandria. He enjoyed dancing, watching the Minnesota Twins, doing carpentry projects and driving the countryside looking at crops. Bill died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Clearwater Suites in Alexandria at the age of 95. He is survived by sons, William Jr. (Bonnie) of Maricopa, AZ and Gregory (Sharlyn) of Rosemont; daughter, Kelli (Carl) Morlock, of Erskine, MN; grandchildren, Chad Sharp, Nicole (Scott) Crow, Bryson (Stacey) Sharp, Aron Morlock, Megan Morlock, Gabriel Morlock; nine great-grandchildren, Michael Sharp, Ryan Sharp, Connor Crow, Aidan Crow, Dylan Crow, Isabelle Sharp, Elliana Sharp, Johnathon Morlock, and Aiden Espeseth. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Illene; wife, Grace; sons, Edward and infant son; brothers, Roger and Robert; sister, Gladys. A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld officiating. Music was provided by Laurie Youngers. Inurnment was held in St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery in Belle River, MN. Honorary urn bearers were Bill?s Grandchildren, Chad Sharp, Nicole Crow, Bryson Sharp, Aron Morlock, Megan Morlock, and Gabriel Morlock. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
