VOLLER, William ?Bill? A. William ?Bill? Anthony Voller was born February 3, 1933 in Melrose, MN one of seven children to Henry and Anna (Rademacher) Voller. His family moved to a farm northwest of Sauk Centre in 1935. He attended school in Sauk Centre, graduating from SCHS. In January 1951, Bill along with other classmates activated with the Minnesota National Guard as part of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on May 8, 1952 as a Sergeant First Class. Bill worked for Hanna Ore Mining briefly, then returned to the family business (Grain Belt Distributing-Sauk Centre) for the next 20 years. He was married to Betty Anne (Faulhaber) Voller on September 3, 1955. Bill?s family moved to Alexandria in 1973, initially owning the Dairy Queen then he began work in the liquor retailing industry?first in Long Prairie, then Alexandria until he retired in 1998. Throughout his working years Bill was involved with numerous civic and volunteer activities: Minnesota Municipal Beverage Association (President for 7 years); Sauk Centre Jaycees (President in 1961); Holy Family School Board President; Lions Club (Sauk Centre and Alexandria); Boy Scouts of America leader; Sauk Centre Light and Power Board; Alexandria Food Shelf; and a volunteer driver for Rainbow Rider. Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed being with people and loved to tell stories. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, routinely serving as ?Cook? with friends, co-workers and sons during trips in northern Minnesota and Canada. He noted his favorite retirement activity was the Preschool Route for Rainbow Rider. During his retirement years, Bill also was proud of his part-time work at Anderson Funeral Home where he was a driver. Bill and Betty Anne built their retirement home in Sauk Centre in 2006 where he continued to do volunteering. Bill passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at St. Michael?s Nursing Home in Sauk Centre at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by parents, Henry and Ann (Rademacher) Voller, brother, Gerald ?Butch? and infant daughter, Mary. Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Anne; son, Michael of Nelson, MN; daughter, Linda of Camarillo, CA; sons, Timothy of St. Paul, MN; Patrick (wife CJ) of Carlisle, PA and Daniel of Bellingham, WA along with four grandchildren, Vanessa, Mikayla, Alexa and Benjamin. A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Our Lady of the Angles Church in Sauk Centre. Interment was held in Calvary Cemetery. Honorary urn bearers were Dale Emmel, Dave Vandesteeg, Gene Casey, Don Westbrock, Tom Ryman, Carol Lanigan and Jim Rutten.
