Yvonne Dorothy Rader

October 7, 1931 — January 3, 2024

Alexandria

Yvonne (Vonnie) was born October 7th, 1931, in St Cloud, MN, and was one of eight children of her parents, George and Marie Egerman. Having grown up in St. Cloud, she graduated from Cathedral High School where she played violin in the orchestra. She was a member of the all-girls' drum and bugle corps. Vonnie enjoyed singing and traveling with the Mel-O-Tones, a girls' quartet. After high school, she worked for the Small House Planning Bureau, a local architectural firm for many years.

In 1956, she married the love of her life and best friend, Bob Rader, and together they first moved to Battle Lake, MN, and then to Alexandria, where they pursued careers, purchased a new home, and raised their three children, David, Ann and Janice. Vonnie enjoyed being a wonderful homemaker, but also worked at McCabe's Gift Shop in Alexandria. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Vonnie was also an active partner in the family business, Law Instructor Publications, working on mailing lists and in shipping/receiving. She had many interests, including Bridge Club with her close friends, ballroom dancing, traveling, fishing, and camping. She excelled at baking, where she was known for her Grasshopper and Frozen Lemon pies and ornately-decorated Christmas cookies. Vonnie and Bob were married 63 years before the passing of Bob in 2019.

After retirement, Vonnie and Bob spent quality time at their winter home in Surprise, Arizona, where they socialized with their many new friends and relatives. They also spent precious time together, golfing and traveling the US.

Vonnie passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at the age of 92. Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Bob, Dick and Tom Egerman and her devoted husband, Bob. She is survived by three children, David (Martha) Rader of Minnetonka, Ann (John) Miesen of Lake George, and Janice (Steve) of North Oaks. Also surviving her are three sisters (close friends), Ginny Symons of Minnetonka, Marion Hall of Minneapolis, and Helen Waldschmidt of Grafton, WI, and one brother, Virgil Egerman of St. Cloud. She was proud of her five grandchildren, JulieAnn Rader, Jacob (Rachel) Miesen, Andrea, (Oscar) Aguilera, Sophie Ramberg, Abby Ramberg, and her four great-grandchildren, Loren and Adrian Aguilera and Connor and Ava Miesen.
